MY ONLY COMFORT IS THE NIGHT GONE BLACK
MY ONLY COMFORT IS THE NIGHT GONE BLACK
NAME... Valkyrie
AGE... 2 years
GENDER... Female
BREED... Akita Mix
PACK... Loner
APPEARANCE...
Her Look
The base of her medium length coat is of a pale grey, almost white in coloration. A large patch of brownish-black fur covers the majority of her back to the start of her belly. Her curled tail’s base is that same darker color before it fades into white at it’s tip. Her large head down to her neck line holds that same hue as well. Upon her front left leg, spots of brown mesh into her grey-white coat. Coming up to look at her eyes, they are a very light brown with flecks of gold splashed within them.
Her Build
Valkyrie is a large boned dog but, she is able to keep a feminine look about her. She stands roughly twenty-five inches at her shoulder and weighs in at about ninety pounds, which puts her a bit smaller than a pure bred Akita would be. Her slender limbs are proportionate to the rest of her stocky body and over all she has a good storage of lean muscle.
PERSONALITY...
General Insight
Quick witted with a sharp tongue, Valkyrie makes her way through life with a cynical out look and sarcastic tones. She isn’t an easy one to get close to and would prefer to be left to her own devices. She is stand-offish when she encounters another canine but, will attempt to tolerate the ones she comes across. Her sense of humor isn’t exactly appropriate nor is it always in good fun but, when the time calls for it she can be heard poking fun at another. All in all, she has become numb to life and everything it throws at her. She is often found conversing with herself throughout the day. If questioned about it, she’ll simply say that there is no one better to talk to than herself.
Emotions
She wears her emotions on her sleeve when it comes to her anger or annoyance. If she doesn’t like you, you will know it immediately. She has a hidden soft spot for pups, knowing that most haven’t been poisoned by the ways of the world. Valkyrie can seem a bit unstable to those who don’t know her. It all depends on her mood at that moment in time if she‘ll play nice or chase you off. If you do so happen to break through her rough exterior, she will dedicate her life to you.
Practicality
She has learned to embrace the moment, never thinking much beyond the now, or in the past. Wise well beyond her years, she knows that she can not change the past. On the other end of the spectrum, Valkyrie knows that she can not predict the future. So she does not try. She lives for the here and now. The present is her time-line. More than not, she will only keep those around who seem worthy to her for survival’s sake.
HISTORY...
Valkyrie’s dam had been the tool for humans for many years. The word tool is used instead of pet for she was nothing of the sort. They raised her mother to be aggressive and fight other dogs profit. Though she was not a pit bull, Akitas were known to be rather aggressive in their own right. She was used in many fights until the night came when she was able to escape them. The humans seemed to be getting sicker with each passing day and her mother took notice. It wasn’t long before a male stray took notice in the female and bred to her. As most males, he up and left soon after and that was the last of him. Valkyrie’s mother never knew the breed of the father to her litter but, it didn’t much matter anyway. She gave birth to five pups, one was born a still born while three others slowly died off over the next week. Valkyrie was the only one to survive after being born.
It was a rather difficult life but the two managed. No longer wishing to go through the loss of more pups, Valkyrie’s dam fought off all suitors from that point on and focused upon bringing up her only pup. Valkyrie was brought up with a rough mother who taught her she had only herself to rely on, no one else. As the years went on, Valkyrie’s dam passed on due to an unknown illness. She didn’t let this even slow her down and pressed on alone. From that point on, Valkyrie continued on as a loner but, like all canines, she longed to be in a pack like structure. She was a pack animal at heart despite what her attitude might portray. Only a few months after her dam’s passing, she joined up with a gypsy pack of strays. They with a group of what seemed to be intellects and taught Valkyrie a new side of survival. She was able to learn to use her wits instead of just her fighting ability from them.
She traveled around with this particular pack until she reached the age of two when she stumbled upon a city. Valkyrie took curiosity in the cityscape and decided to part herself from the pack and stick around. She was use to being a loner and she figured she would do it again, at least for a little while. Her life of solitude has been going well thus far with only a few minor scuffles and encounters. Food and shelter is much easier to find in this city like environment and with so much many hiding places, there aren’t too many run ins with others that she’s had to deal with. Secretly, she is looking for others to team up with though her slightly stand-offish greetings may not scream that right away. She’s just like any typical canine. For now, she lives in a run down bakery in the center of the city. With all the left over baked goods around, it’s easy enough to pick off some easy rodent meals. She's surviving day by day.
